Environmental Technician

Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking an Environmental Technician. You will join a team as dedicated to your career as you are. This highly motivated, detail-oriented, customer service-focused individual will be responsible for working on site for the client by helping them manage their hazardous waste programs.

This position reports to the Operations Manager and this role reports to a Life Science client in Cambridge, MA.

Essential responsibilities and duties include:

Technical:

  • Maintain good attendance and punctuality
  • Participate in and complete Triumvirate's on-boarding and Safety Training Development Program
  • Conduct safety equipment and hazardous waste inspections
  • Regularly prepare chemical waste for shipment and disposal, including creation of all federal/state waste documents and managing the paperwork for the material. You are responsible for following any applicable state and federal regulations [Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) & Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations]
  • Develop understanding of OSHA regulations as well as Triumvirate's Health and Safety practices

Hands-on:

  • Handle chemicals and hazardous waste in small and large containers
  • Transport waste through client facility from short term storage area to long term storage area
  • Manage and provide customer feedback on compliance of both short term and long term waste storage areas
  • Willingness to wear a respirator approx. for 1-2 hours per week
  • Spill response measures, including assessment of the spills and potentially leading the cleanup efforts

Customer Service:

  • Provide clients with high-quality and professional customer service
  • Professional attitude, high energy, and high-level communication skills required when dealing directly with client representatives

Required qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Basic knowledge of, or interest in, the hazardous waste field
  • 1+ years of customer service experience
  • Self-motivated person with the desire to learn
  • Successful completion of OSHA/DOT physical examination which includes drug and alcohol screening
  • Must be able to lift 50-75 pounds
  • This is a Safety Sensitive Position

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous warehouse and or chemical handling experience preferred
  • Valid driver's license
  • 1-2 years of hazardous waste industry experience
